Mäder joins the Responsible Mica Initiative
By joining the RMI association, the Mäder Group is helping to make the Mica supply chain more ethical and sustainable, while working to improve working conditions for harvesters, in particular to eradicate the use of child labor.
Mica is a family of minerals consisting mainly of potassium aluminum silicate, used as a raw material in many industrial and cosmetic products. As a major player in paint formulation and production, the Mäder Group sometimes uses mica in its paints.
The mission of RMI association is clear:
To engage multiple stakeholders in a coalition of action to help establish a fair, responsible and sustainable mica supply chain in India (Bihar and Jharkhand) and Madagascar, free from child labor and offering responsible working conditions.
Mäder is proud to be an active member of this association alongside other players from various sectors (chemicals, cosmetics, automotive, textiles, NGOs and associations...) to help the populations of the mica region escape poverty and embark on the road to growth and independence.
